Preschool Room (2½ years - 4 years)

Our Preschool Room is licensed for 16 Preschoolers who require 2 qualified Educators.

All allergies and food/drink preferences are posted in the program and in the kitchen. We look at our snack and lunch times as a chance for the children to nourish their bodies and work on their self-help skills by pouring their own drinks, using proper table manners, and tidying up after they are done. We encourage children that are in diapers to try the potty once the child/parents have initiated that interest. For children that are potty training we ask that parents provide many changes of clothes during this time, because accidents do happen. We promote learning in an exciting way where the children get to explore and discover through fun activities which will have them ready to start school when the time comes. Every day is filled with songs, stories, crafts and of course play. We believe that children learn through play and provide many different experiences and activities to foster this growth. Circles and activities are always focused on early learning concepts such as: numbers and counting, letters and spelling, colours, shapes and language. Program routines are also posted in the program along with a visual schedule for the children to follow along. Our consistent routines give the children a sense of predictability so they are comfortable with the day and transitions. We follow the Emergent Curriculum which follows the children’s leads. We take something that they have shown an interest in and expand on that knowledge and learning through conversation, experiments and activities focused on that topic. The Preschoolers go outside twice a day, weather permitting, for fresh air and gross motor development. On days when the weather is too hot or too cold they go downstairs into our gym to achieve these daily goals.
